Let's get back to the proper emblems, and remember that it was one way that Ford was able to use Shelby fiberglass to bring its costs down. The next gen GT/CS used the same thinking n the body parts as well.
They are, but you'll need to figure a new set about every 5-6000 miles of normal driving. They've got an insanely low treadwear rating, so little to no mileage. The one delivered to our dealership yesterday had lots of small rocks stuck to the glue like tread.
Interesting link.
Had an '82 GT brand new, all $11,500 of it.
The 5.0 was initially NOT standard in the GT. It was optional until mid-year. GTs could be had with the 4 cyl, the inline 6 and the mighty 255 V8 with an automatic. I've seen all versions of them. Only the 5.0 came standard with a...
In 2005 I was at the Woodward Dream Cruise. Saw an awesome '32 Ford Street Rod with Detroit PD deco, as well as a then current GT Mustang in cop car trim. In talking to a local officer he told us that they were drug seizure cars that were repurposed for DARE (32 Ford) or highway (Mustang) pursuit.
So many non-SSP cars got treated the same. Teh history of these cars in interesting and you see a growing intrest in them at shows like Carlisle and the regional MCA events. At the Ford 100 celbration, the local police put out a blanket warning that those attending had to cover their police...
This has been going on since '82, when the SSP program started. Then police forces realized the resale of a used Mustang cop car was way better than a Crown Vic or Caprice. Biloxi, Miss. had an '04 Mach 1 cop car, two actually. One was lost during Katrina, the other retired after DARE work.
Ford Australia did the blackout headlight lower trim on the FPV Falcons before they went away. Wasn't crazy about it then. I'd like to see the blackout on the rear include the lower part of the decklid as well. Might be something special.
When the '30/04 Mach 1s were produced, many black cars made itout the door without their (black) stripes. There were mismatched front and back seats, the unique C pillars were often mismatched and at least one came with the regular grille instead of the grille delete. I've got photos of a 2013...
Considering that this is about as exotic as it gets, and there's no plug in, hybrid or any other goofball platitudes served up here, this thing rocks. Short of a Ford GT, this thing really does take the fight to pretty much anything Europe has to offer. Thank you Ford
Having been around the new cars at Carlisle, my .02 is that before you order Recaros, sit in them first. They're...snug. Second, the electronic exhaust on the EcoBoost sounds...awful.
